The need of having a quality website for universities is increasing as internet become a vital part of the educational process, and as students and prospective students turn to the internet for information. Even some universities lose their prospects by not having a good impression on visitor of website. Because either he won’t be able to get proper information or he don’t get an overall good impression of university.

We have considered only private sector universities of Pakistan in this article.  Following is our criteria to rank website designs of universities:

• Site Navigation, and content management
• Overall Appearance and structure
• Graphics and images used

The biggest challenge for university website is to organize lot of content, and arrange it in a way that it becomes easy to navigate and find required information. I have browsed 62 private sector universities’ websites and got the feeling that most of these websites have organized content in a same way with drop down menu bar on top and image slider. Some websites have very poor graphics, layout and navigation, but others have did some efforts to make their websites more effective by using good graphics, well structured navigation and easy to find required information.
